A big thank you goes out to Randi Tucker Barr of Raymond Walters College for recommending our book!

Here is what Randi had to say:

“As an instructor of emerging virtual assistants, I have incorporated Diana Ennen and Kelly Poelker’s book, Virtual Assistant, The Series, and accompanying work book as required text for my students. The book guides students from the basic concept of the virtual assistant industry to creating a workable business plan, marketing plan, and web presence. The workbook encourages students to integrate material from the book into their personal goals and objectives. My belief is that Virtual Assistant, The Series has given my students the necessary foundation to become successful entrepreneurs.”

The True-to-Life Terrorist Attack Could Strike Any American City Tomorrow; Are We Prepared for a Smallpox Threat?

Sledgehammer, a Realistic Fiction Thriller, Explores This Possibility

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ — What happens when bioterrorists unleash the “smallpox” chemical on a highly populated city and time is crucial to prevent its lethal spread? The drama unfolds in the realistic fiction thriller, Sledgehammer. Terrorists have successfully used the acute, highly contagious, febrile disease as a biochemical agent with plans to spread it into several sport arenas, airports, and shopping malls to maximize its deadly effects. If not for the quick action and prior medical expertise of the main character, Dr. Max Kroose, fatalities could be in the millions.

What makes the book extremely interesting is the events unfolding in the Emergency Room symbolize real events that occur throughout the country’s hospitals on a daily basis. The author, Dr. Paulo J. Reyes, is a practicing ER physician and First Responder to disasters in Los Angeles, California with a medical career spanning over 25 years. Reyes’ medical expertise helped to create an environment that both medical personnel and science fiction fans will enjoy. Added to the harrowing tale, the characters are well developed and passionate in their rapid quest for life-saving answers.

In Sledgehammer, the first case of smallpox is presented in an emergency room in Los Angeles. The hospital staff faces the immediate challenges of the contagious disease spreading quickly and affecting patients and staff alike. Adding further drama to the story is the doctors’ discovery that this particular eruption is “sledgehammer,” a particularly aggressive form. Sledgehammer smallpox, caused by the variola virus, develops a non-typical rash and patients succumb to the disease fairly rapidly, which further increases the urgency to find a cure. The action packed plot has received numerous 5 star ratings from both Midwest Reviews and Heartland Reviews, as well as numerous others.

With today’s ongoing terrorists’ threats, the growing concern of a biochemical attack, the fear of a global pandemic, and the style in which Dr. Reyes has created this book, Sledgehammer is an excellent choice to add to your collection.

Dr. Reyes is available for media events by contacting Publicist Diana Ennen at (954) 971-4025. Sledgehammer is available at http://www.pauloreyes.com or leading online bookstores.

Fiction Thriller Sledgehammer Receives Excellent Reviews

This Is One book You Don’t Want to Miss

Los Angeles, CA, June 2006: Results of book reviews are pouring in and it’s very clear the medical fiction thriller Sledgehammer is a smash hit and a five-star winner. Just read some of the adjectives used in describing this book: “outstanding, must read, riveting, gut wrenching, chilling.”

Here are just some of the reviews with more found on Reye’s site.

Midwest Book Review states, ”This is a gut wrenching medical thriller that centers on how relatively easy the spread of a bio-weapon can occur in this country…. Paulo J. Reyes provides a SLEDGEHAMMER to a system that is set up to insure mass failure when (not if) the crisis happens.”

Sledgehammer gets a five star rating from Lightwood Publishing Review, which writes: “Today’s real threat of a terrorist attack is dramatically illustrated in a riveting fictional account…Readers will gasp learning how inadequately prepared we are for this event today and how we can prepare.”

Louise Riveiro-Mitchell, author of Autumn Sky and Dark Skies of Autumn, also was impressed by the storyline. “The story that at one time I would think of as a wonderful fiction theory, now after the events of 9/11, are not only very real but completely frightening…An interesting and frightening read and does make one think.”

And Sledgehammer racks up another five-stars from scientist Cecilia Fredricks. She writes: “It has been a long time since I have read a book that I simply could not put down. I am a scientist by profession so I was able to really relate to the whole bioterrorism/Virus research plot of the book…It is well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book is fiction, but could this really happen? Scary!”

“This was an outstanding book,” says Melody Spier, president and owner of Ballyhoo Virtual Services. “It has come at a time when we all need to stop and think about the real possibility of a bioterrorist attack and how our government would react if such an outbreak happened…This is a must read for everyone.”

So what’s this book that everyone is talking about? Sledgehammer, written by Dr. Paulo J. Reyes, focuses on a terrorist who arrives in a Los Angeles hospital’s Emergency Room with smallpox symptoms. An ER physician suspects a more lethal form of smallpox, called Sledgehammer. The question becomes can this ER doctor convince the hospital administration and the public health care system about the presence of the deadly disease and the need to vaccinate the American public before it’s too late.

The story is brought vividly to life by Dr. Reyes who has 25 years in medicine and internal medicine and is a First Responder for the busiest cities in California, specifically in terrorist training.

To order this five- star winner stop by http://www.pauloreyes.com or Amazon. You won’t be able to put it down!
